Whale conservation

Baleia Gin supports the Ocean Azores Foundation through a donation of €2 from for the sale of each bottle. We work with our vendors who match this with an additional donation. For every Baleia & Tonic we also donate an additional €1 per drink at The Gin Library.

We hope that this giving back model, which is something new to Portugal and the Azores inspires others to do the same.

GLASS REUSE

Baleia and Rocha Negra Gin bottles can be returned to us for cleaning and reuse here at The Gin Library. In exchange we offer a 2-1 G&T at the estate (see below for T&Cs.) If you are not located on São Miguel it would be greatly appreciated if you would recycle the glass or turn the bottles into vases or lamps at home. All restaurants and bars are encouraged to keep our bottles and return them to us so that they can be washed and reused.

Zero unnecessary plastic

Our bottles and everything to do with the brand looks to minimise waste and unnecessary packaging when it comes to plastic. The only plastic that we use is to seal the top of the bottle. This is an EU requirement for shipping and transport and something we cannot change.

Zero packaging

We don’t do gift boxes or tags for that matter. The reason is simple in that much of this excess packaging cannot or is not recycled or reused.

Cork Tops

Our bottles only use sustainable cork and wood. Cork is 100% recyclable. Anything that minimises waste and supports the natural environment and biodiversity is a huge benefit.

Minimising Waste

We minimise our waste as much as possible. We reuse our supplier boxes after transport for gardening or recycling. Our products do not use unnecessary plastic in our production or shipping.
